Ahoy dear dreamers,
Bringing festivals and sustainability together is a real challenge – one that we take on with passion every single year. Art needs infrastructure, more than ten thousand celebrating people need to be taken care of, and spectacular music and light experiences are only half as magical without a lot of power behind them. In this newsletter, we would like to show you how we approach this challenge at Bucht der Träumer*.
However, the single biggest lever for making the festival more climate-friendly is in your own hands: your journey to and from the festival. Travel accounts for around 60% of all CO₂ emissions related to the festival.
To help you make a good travel decision, we have put together some important information for you below – including new Bassliner routes.
Sustainability – Where We Stand
As festival organizers, we take responsibility and continuously work on better solutions for a more sustainable Bucht der Träumer*. For 2025, we created a visual climate balance sheet to transparently show where we currently stand.
Together with our sustainability officer, we are constantly developing the festival further and sharing on our website what we are currently working on, where there are still gaps, and which topics we want to tackle in the future.
Eco Team – Waste as a Resource
Our Eco Team is on site from start to finish, making sure waste never becomes a problem in the first place. Instead of simply disposing of everything, all waste is collected, brought together centrally and sorted by hand into individual materials
This keeps recyclable materials in circulation and significantly reduces the amount of residual waste. The extra effort is worth it: we deliberately invest in this system because celebrating sustainably means taking responsibility – even when it costs more time and money
Finizio – Eco toilets instead of chemicals
Finizio's dry toilets save water, are extremely efficient to transport, and work entirely without harmful additives. The waste is processed in a recycling facility into high-quality humus fertiliser that is safe, tested and free from pollutants. This creates a closed nutrient cycle from the festival back to the field.
Die aller größte Stellschraube: Mobilität
Travel to the festival is by far the biggest CO₂ factor of our event. Every person who leaves their car behind is doing something good for the environment. The most sustainable – and honestly also the most beautiful – way to arrive is by bicycle. This year, Rückenwind e.V. is once again organizing a group bike tour from Berlin to Helenesee. Your luggage will be transported, so all you need is a bicycle and motivation for around 100 km of cycling. Joining along the route is also possible in Erkner or Fürstenwalde. New Bassliner routes unlocked
The next most sustainable option this year is once again the Bassliner. You can already book buses from Berlin and Hamburg, and this year there will also be trips from Dresden,

Camping – sustainable overnight stays
No tent? No problem. For 20 years – and for the first time this year at the Bucht – Mein-Zelt-steht-schon makes it possible: you simply book your tent and equipment in advance – and find it already set up when you arrive. There are different tent sizes available, from a one-person tent to a “palace” for up to six people. You can flexibly add equipment – air mattress, sleeping bag, table, and sun sail. Click here for stress-free camping. Last year’s big hit is naturally returning this year: our Kuschelmuschel offer. If you would like to stay in a cozy bell tent for two, have a look at our website. Please note: the 4-person tent is no longer available this year. Alternatives can be found at Mein-Zelt-steht-schon.
Highlights in the cultural program
We are also looking forward to several highlights on the topic of sustainability in the cultural program, such as the playful workshop Living Well Within Planetary Boundaries and Reinhild Benning with Climate- and Human-Friendly Shopping. The Sonnenallee collective will also be back on board with their solar-powered Transmission out of Space.
